The Pumpkin Patch

Miss Lexie takes the kiddos on field trips every Monday and sometimes more often.  So I saw she had the pumpkin patch on for a Monday.  I asked if I could come and I suggested going on a Tuesday, so I can get out of our weekly staff meetings:).  So we planned weeks in advance and were hoping the weather would hold out and it did!

We headed to Hidden Acres.  I have never been there before but it was PERFECT for preschool and under.  It was a fabulous, smaller farm.  The weather said it was supposed to be high 60's but that wasn't until 11ish so it was a big foggy and cold at first.

Hudson, Papa, and I were there early so we could scope out the scene.  Hudson was excited to visit the pig, a card board pig.  There was a real pig, but Hudson was scared of him because he was squealing for his breakfast along with the sheep.  So we stayed in the tepee.

Then it was off for a hayride tour of the farm.

Our next stop was heading into the orchard to pick some apples.  We learned about the flowers and how bees pollinate and make honey.

This was Huddy's face most of the morning.  He had just gotten over a fever all weekend and he was very clingy to mamma.  I think he might be that kid who clings to his mamma when he sees her.  Luckily he left my side for Papa's hand.

Then Hudson was able to carry his apples in his bag but it started to slow him down...

So I asked him for the bag and he wouldn't give it up.  Then I grabbed it and this was his reaction, a melt down in the hay maze.  Fin is asking him "Huddy why are you crying?"

He wouldn't take a picture in the apple...

But he would as an Indian mom:).

Then we walked to meet Penelope the talking pumpkin.   The kiddos sat on the benches and listened to Penelope.  They sang their color song to her.  

Last, but not least, donuts and apple juice.  Oh, and some chickens?!

It was such a fun field trip.  I'm glad I can take days off to be part of Hudson's world 

every once in a while.  He is growing up so fast and learning so much.  

Hudson was a bit clingy at first but having Papa sure helped!  Thank you Papa for coming along.  

I just love this little guy, thank you Hudson for being you:).
