Can you believe it? My boy is 3! I'm still in shock. Best 3 years of my life!
We decided to do a Mickey Mouse theme birthday (but Cars was a close second) since we were supposed to be in Disneyland over spring break but now we are planning on going in June.
We love visiting Uncle Joe!
As we were getting ready, my lil buddy was exciting and snuggled his Mickey Mouse. He couldn't wait for his party to start and for his Grandparents and Great Grandparents to arrive. He really understood a birthday this year, so fun!
After he woke up from his nap, most of his guests had arrived. He walked down to find this air walker size Mickey Mouse balloon, I just thought it was to cool! I had to order other balloons as well. I really LOVE balloons and feel they make a party:).
This banner Miss Lexie made at school and the kids wrote their names (sort of) and colored on it. I added the Mickey from my dear friend and neighbor Tiffany. She helped me out with all the banners on my Silhouette I bought...but hadn't used yet. She filled me on how to work it but with work and being pregnant, she ended up making the banners from ideas I found on pinterest. Thank you Tiffany, you did a great job! I strung them together, so I did have a little part:).
I found these adorable cupcake ideas on pinterest and was intent to make them but ending up ordering them to surprise our family:). They turned out pretty cute.
Then our boy was up! He was a bit overwhelmed with all the people in his house. He is quite a shy lil guy:). He does this when my mom brings him to Holman for breakfast and at our Fall Party. He just takes a while to warm up.
"Look mom! It's Mickey!"
So as all the grandparents and great grandparents sat in the living room waiting for Hudson to meet us, they played with Mickey trying to entice him to join them. I love how all their faces are watching Mickey:).

Then he went back upstairs and Pops had to carry him down:).
He settled in with some books and then started to open gifts.
Then it was dinner time! Mmm! We served Hudson's favorites: pizza, strawberries, oreos, salad (for the adults), deviled eggs (again for adults), and some punch. He was a happy camper. Then it was time for ears! Here are the party guests:

Then it was group picture time!
I posted all of them b/c my dad gets funnier with each picture!
Hudson wouldn't wear his ear so Grandma popped them up behind him so it looks like he is wearing them.
Then it was cupcake time! So we sang Happy Birthday and Hudson really enjoyed everyone singing to him, he even blew out his candles this year!
What we didn't tell anyone was that inside the cupcakes was the gender color filling of our next baby! I had an ultrasound at 18 weeks with my friend Olivia. She was the only one who knew "what" Hudson was. Since I was having such a different pregnancy this round, I wanted to know. Everyone kept saying girl but I didn't want to get to excited. So we found out. Then Jared suggested ordering the cupcakes for the party to surprise everyone. My mom had asked if we could have a "reveal" party with these delicious cupcakes earlier but Jared wanted to surprise everyone, and boy did we!
That' right it was pink! We're having a girl.
The conversation at the table was hilarious. When my mom found the center, pink, she said "Is this strawberry? I can't have seeds." Then she proceeds to tell all the other grandparents about these reveal parties in cupcakes. She had just told my grandparents Thursday at dinner and now again. She was going on and on and then she looks at me and says "Ha ha, is this a revel party?" half serious. My dad looks at me and says "It is isn't it?!" Then he quoted the same words he said with Hudson "Oh my word" for quite a while afterwards. Everyone was happy, surprised, and loved the idea. I'm glad someone figured it out, it was taking quite a while:). Jared went over "my job" during the cupcake eating so I wouldn't ruin the surprise. I tend to get a bit excited and blurt out the good news:). So I was in charge of pictures and ice cream. It worked pretty good except for the hiding in the kitchen smiling and laughing.
I of course had to have a children's book so I picked up Pinkilicious by Victoria Kann. Hudson asked Grandma to read it right away!
I gave the go ahead to take off the Mickey eyes so Grandpa jumped at the chance:). He then shared with Hudson, who wouldn't touch them earlier in the afternoon. But he showed some interest...
Then he asked daddy to read it. Daddy is still adjusting to the idea of pinks and purples:).
We had to do one last Happy Birthday song because he just ate it up this year:).
Then it was good bye Hugs for Grandma!
He used his bargaining skills and wanted to give her 9 more hugs good bye but we had to cut off his hugs or it would be never ending...
Thank you all for celebrating our special boy turning 3. It was another wonderful year with a wonderful boy. We are so blessed to have you as our son Hudson Henry. Thank you for filling our lives with complete joy, endless love, and entertainment and laughter.
