A Very Different Pregnancy

15 weeks and rockin' a bump

This pregnancy has been very different from my first one.  For starters I found out we were pregnant in early January.  In two months, January and February, I managed to miss 20 days of work.  Yes 20 days!  The worst day was probably Valentine's Day.  The night before I got sick, which I was 12 weeks at the time so it was kind of odd it was my first time throwing up, so I had full intentions of working the next day because it was Valentine's Day and I can't miss that day!  Valentine's Day parties and activities are the best!  I tried but that morning as soon as I ate, I knew I wasn't working.  So I decided to call my doc and ask to see them.  I had lost 12 lbs in two weeks and I was hardly eating or drinking at all, I just physically couldn't.  So I set an apt and when they weighed me and analyzed my "deposit" they said I had lost a lot of weight and was dehydrated and malnourished.  I knew half a packet of oatmeal for breakfast, half a bagel for lunch, and a quarter chicken burger for dinner wasn't enough!  So they sent me to Sacred Heart to get IV's.  I ended up needed 5 liters, each liter taking a little over an hour.  That's a lot of fluid.  In a weird way it was relaxing.  I could put my feet up, which I can NEVER do at work, and not at home with an active toddler.  I was able to watch tv, cable tv, very exciting and it wasn't Thomas or Super Y!  They prescribed me anti-nausea meds and I am currently taking EVERYTHING I can to not get sick:).  I decided to take the rest of the week off since I was only teaching 1-2 days a week anyways.  So I layed in bed for 6 days, which is not good for my personality.  No cleaning, cooking, errands, shopping, and I barely had enough energy to hug and play with my boy.  I was able to work the following week 3 of the 4 days.  Since then, I've made it work every day.  Of course it helps knowing I only have 5 more sick days this year and Jared's busy season is around the corner which means I'm on duty, but that's life.  There's more important things than taking a few unpaid days!

All my co-workers are predicting a girl because they all say their girls were harder pregnancies.  With Hudson, I was pregnant all school year, September-April, and I didn't miss a day of work all year!  It's just crazy how different the two have been.  The next big decision is whether or not we'll find out the gender.  We waited with Huddy and Jared wants to wait again, which I think is fun.  I would just like to know if my co-workers are right but if it is a girl, it will be cheaper to wait b/c I will go CRAZY buying girlie stuff:).  I honestly don't care, but another boy sounds the most appealing.  I love saying "see you soon boys" or "I love my boys!"  I just love Hudson and his tender heart.  There is something about a mother-son relationship:).  At this point in time, we're waiting which is always a fun surprise.

Since March hit, I've been feeling better.  I even ran a few errands!  Since I wasn't going anywhere, and I had to energy to shop online, we were saving loves of $.  Jared was quite impressed!  Two kindergarten classes a day takes all my energy so Jared has graciously grocery shopped and cooked meals for our family for the last 3 months.  I love my husband!  He even packs my lunches every day this whole year:).  Without him, I just physically couldn't do it.  I seriously don't know how single moms manage!  They are truly amazing.  When I come home from work I just need to sit and put my feet up.  I've explained Kindergarten as taking a deep breath before they come in and then I don't exhale until they leave.  It's a run, run around job:).

As the conference boom comes up, I have 3 long days full of conferences.  Hoping I have the energy to get ready, make it to work, and finish these 3 full days!  I'm thankful for God's provisions and a healthy mamma, baby, and family.
