Hudson is 6!!!!!!

My first born is 6!  How did this happen?
We kind of had a celebration WEEK this time.

On a whim, we went out to Red Robin, Hudson's choice, for his 6 year old meal out!
He enjoyed his free sundae:).

As did Hannah:).

He got super tired while we were there so I had to tickle him to get a good pic with his mamma!

We had a small family dinner to celebrate our boy.  He got legos, legos, and legos!  Ok and some Magnatiles.  He spent days putting together this dragon set that he had asked for over a year ago.  We waited to give it to him until I  thought he was finally ready!
Thank you Gigi & Gpa for the awesome gift!

Then on his actual birthday we were able to go into school and watch him be the special helper for the day at calendar time.

Since the treats had to be store bought, we opted for maple bars!
Hudson was SUPER excited!
There wasn't a kid in the class who didn't eat one:).

He's 6, sniff sniff.

Once he build the dragon lego set, he was onto another.  He really does a good job at reading the directions and following them.  Plus all the patience and time he dedicated to these projects.  I was super impressed!

Then it was finally time for his party.  I opted to due it after his actual birthday because last year we did it before and he was very confused.  He kept asking for when his party was going to happen, even after it did:).

This year Hudson wanted a karate party which was fitting since he LOVES karate.
Here he is at the start with his cake.

A classic karate pose!

I heard raving reviews about the Warhorse birthday parties.
Mr. Piper is one of his teachers in class and he was running his party as well.  That was a fun surprise!  Hudson was an honorary black belt for the day!

Then Mr. Piper and Mr. Gay gave a few instructions.

Then they lined up just like karate class.

He had them practice a stance and Hudson got to whack the noodle to make sure they had their arm in the right defensive stance.  He was going true to Hudson nature, slow, so Mr. Piper helped speed him up a bit:).

After he taught a few techniques it was time to open presents!
Mr. Piper even wrote down who brought what!  I just had to finish the thank-yous!
It was a mamma's dream!

Then it was time for the big samurai sword!

The kindergarteners were speechless:).

Hudson got to hold the samurai sword...

to cut the cake!

This is one tough kindergartner!

They ended the class with some foam nunchuck fun.  The kids had a blast and we thoroughly enjoyed the party!  Hudson even got to keep a sword.  Don't worry, it's safely tucked away out of reach:).

I think the sword was his favorite part of the party:).  What a fun time celebrating my 6 year old.
Hudson was so excited to have his friends there!

Happy Birthday to one special boy who stole this mamma's heart from the beginning!
We are so blessed to have you in our lives!  Your heart, love, and compassion for others are just a few of the reasons we love you so!  You amaze us with your willingness to try new things and you've become quite the adventurous boy!
Happy Birthday Hudson Henry Haak!  We love you more than you'll ever know!!!!

Spring

Spring is a wonderful time of year!
I have a few favorites:

1.  Birthdays

We went down to Sunnyside to celebrate our nieces birthday.  Since Raylee and Hudson are days apart, we also celebrated our almost 6 year old at the time.  He loves a good party and some presents!

Yes thank you Aunt Tiff for the night vision and thank you Grandma Ev for the nerf gun.  You've made him a very happy boy!

We also celebrated with blue frosted cupcakes, thanks Aunt Tiff!

Baylee's birthday was on a gorgeous Saturday at Grandma & Grandpas.  Great Grandpa drove up in his new, but old, Model T.  Can't you see those crazy two cruisin all around?!

Here the kids are all lined up for their Easter egg hunt!  They are listening patiently to Aunt Tiff's directions!

Go go go!!!
Notice Jared is ready to race Hudson:).

Hannah loved it!  There were no tears, unlike her brother at 2.

A proud girl!

Counting his loot!

Then there was plenty of time to sit back and relax.

Especially with cousins!

Happy Birthday Raylee & Hudson!

2.  Easter

When I think of my precious baby boy, I get sentimental thinking of Jesus' death in a deeper way every year.  I love Easter for the dresses, fancy clothes, but I really like focusing on what truly matters, Christ's resurrection!

But since we were in Sunnyside, we went to church which meant Easter outfits:).

Last family picture as a family of 4!

Cousins!
In birth order!  Thank you Aunt Lissa!

Then it was time to say good bye...but we said good bye to 3 not 2.  Hudson stayed a few extra nights with Grandma & Grandpa.  I cherished my time staying at my grandparents and Hudson does as well.
Here they are eating their peanuts and apples.  They eventually had to cut Hudson off from peanuts because he enjoyed them A LOT!

While down there they went to the dairy to see Raylee!

And took a ride in Grandpa's truck!

3.  Spring Break

Yes, spring break lives on for me!  It's one perk of the job but I tell you it about kills me every year getting to it because conferences are right before.  Ugh.  Any who, Hudson had a fabulous break.  A few days at Grandma & Grandpas, break fast at Holman and then Pops took him on a fishing trip in Montana, just the two of them:).

Pops caught one fish...

That was dinner ! Yay!

Hudson's two favorite meals are mac n cheese and fish!  Love it!  He was a happy camper!

They fished the next day.  Pops caught another one but had to release it, too small.
It was a stocked lake and I think Pops was disappointed Hudson didn't catch a fish but I'm sure Hudson was just happy to be there;).

And just like that he grew up even more.
We love you Hudson Henry!
How can you not adore this face?!
