Van Gogh & Merlot
A fun new to learn how to paint while you enjoy a drink! One of my co-workers has done a few of these classes and invited me…so I took the challenge. I'm not really painter, never actually painted, just some water colors in kindergarten:). I don't LOVE crafts because I get frustrated with them easily and Jared has to end up bailing me out. Artistic? Me? Nope, not at all. So I figured why not give it a try! It was so fun! This is how it looks, my easel and the peoples across the table from me (yes the lady on the right, I knocked hers over but that's another story…). They broke it down so simple I could even follow and succeeded! You fold your paper into four squares and section it off. You are split into two groups. Each group goes up to the "teacher table" and she models what to do on your painting. She tells you specific, step by step instructions and then you go back and do them. Then she explains to the other group. So you are going back and forth often, which I liked. While you listen, you sip some wine and enjoy an appetizer. Fun!
There was so much to learn! I had no idea about mixing paint, different sizes of paint brushes and of course how to paint! It was truly and experience, a fun one!
This was about half way

I learned a lot and had tons of fun…I think I'll try it again!

Book Club
That's right, you read the title right, I joined a book club! For those of you who know me, reading for pleasure isn't my favorite thing. I love to read for a purpose, professionally mainly. I love nonfiction and reading about the Bible or professional development in teaching, but for fun? No thanks! I'll stick to my children's literature and short stories:). Well earlier this fall my neighbor mentioned doing a book club or a Bible study. I have grown up doing many Bible studies, in school or with my mom. My mom has led many, especially Beth Moore studies, with friends and at church. Well i guess you can say she has "passed the baton" and now I'm facilitating…and it's wonderful! We committed to our first book, One Thousand Gifts by Ann Voskamp, and just finished last night. It is so wonderful to discuss and have fellowship with other believers! We are all busy moms so one evening a week worked and we met at my house. I bought the DVD and study guide and we drank wine…yes wine! The book, video, discussion were exactly what "we" busy mammas needed! The best part is, we are all in walking distance from my house. Have I mentioned how much I love my neighborhood??!! Since we completed this book we are now going to read the gospels and the triumphal entry to Christ's resurrection in preparation for Easter.
So if you live near me, and want to join, we would love to have you!
Thursdays @ 6:00pm
Did I mention wine?
