Memorial Day Weekend @ Priest

Memorial Day = Priest Lake
Since Jared was working, we headed up to the lake with my folks Friday afternoon.  Nana had picked up a few toys for Huddy, one being a Thomas book and he didn't put it down the entire weekend!!!!  It's always nice to have a few inside toys at the lake for bad weather weekends.

Memorial weekend is usually rainy and lots of naps are required.

Then it was time for the Coolin Parade on Saturday.  As Huddy grows older, I look forward to this small parade more and more each year.  He loves watching the big rigs and I like par-oozing the local vendors.  So fun.

A boy and his Thomas whistle:).

During the parade, the participants throw candy.  A little boy kept bringing Huddy candy as it would fall on the ground.  He was such a good sharer.

A few of the floats and parade entries:

This is our neighbor Kent.  He alway enters his vintage ride yearly.  We had dinner with him the night before at Millies and he asked dad what kind of candy he liked.  Dad said "Chocolate.  Big ones too not those little things" just teasing.  Well low and behold Kent bought extra large candy bars and stopped in the parade and threw them out at only us.  The people across the street were jealous too!  They kept saying "where's ours."  Kent is always such a joker but my dad was a happy camper with all his chocolate for the weekend.

Then daddy came and surprised us!  He was supposed to be working all
weekend but he made it for the parade, YEAH!

"It's Daddy!"

One cool Papa who is loving all the candy!

Kent with his mischievous smile:)

Then we headed back for a nap and some quiet time.  Daddy helped Huddy with his new cars puzzle.  That kept daddy and Huddy busy!

My cousin and his wife and her son joined us.  All the ladies gathered around for a game of Rumikub.

Gigi didn't win although she is still #1 in my heart!

Then it was outside time.  I have a feeling we won't be inside much this summer and I'm excited about it!

A walk with daddy

On the docks!  Hudson has now discovered the docks and the water below.  He even got to touch it:).

Then we walked over to the river.  The water is really high this year so the river is high and fast.

The whole gang: Jared, cousin Aaron and wife Michelle, Hudson, Papa, & Nana

My cuz.  I only have 3 cousins and here is one of them.  The last time I saw Aaron was 6 years ago at our wedding.  It was nice of them to come over and visit our grandparents and come up to the lake.

Papa's boy

So Hudson is learning how to wink, well sort of:

It's more of a squinted face but it sure is cute:).  Then it was puzzle

and movie time.

But of course that didn't last long and we were back outside:).

What a nice weekend it was with family.  We're so blessed to have a place to spend quality time together.  Sunday and Monday the son came out.  This was one of the best Memorial Day weekends for weather in a long time!

Daddy Fundamentals

After studying August-October, busy season October and November, back to studying December-February, Test February, March-May busy season, Jared took a week off to play with his boy. He taught him some fundamental "boy"things:

1.  Boys play with sport balls: basketballs, footballs, baseballs, and soccer balls

 2.  Boys shoot hoops

3.  Boys Run

5.  Boys look both ways before crossing the street

6.  Daddy's help you

Nothin' but net

 "Basket-ball"  Sure dear:)

"Daddy shoot basket please"

 7.  Boy's should pick up their sport balls when they are done with them

*Disclaimer: these are not just "boy" lessons but for our household currently they are:).

Two Year Old Stats

Apparently Huddy's pediatrician is very popular because it took me about 2 months to see him for his 2 year old check up.  We didn't need to go to this appointment but I'm always curious about his head circumference!!!  So without any more delays, his stats are:
Weight: 35.5 lbs  ~  98%
Height: 27.3 in  ~  97%
Head Circ: 21.5 in  ~  100%
As you can see, we have a big boy here!  He is quite heavy to lift in and out of the car and we encourage him to walk as much as possible.  He's not so fun to carry upstairs but I can't resist carrying him b/c I love it!  His height is good.  The theory is if you double his height at 2, you'll get their adult height.  Well that means Mr. Hudster will be around 6'2".  YEAH!  I want a tall basketball player!  His head is still "off the charts" but there is no need to worry.  Again the doc asked me if big heads run in the fam, I didn't know how to respond:).  Ha ha.

A few of Huddy's memorable 2 year old moments:

1.  The Look
This is the look he gives me quite often.  Its the "are you serious" or "you really want me to listen" or his way of getting out of whatever I need him to do.

2.  Tears
Sometimes we get upset when playtime is done or daddy goes outside and we can't follow

3.  The Hands
Yup, he still holds up his hands!

4.  Messes
We have a SLOW, messy eater here!

5.  Coughs
Nana taught Huddy to cover his mouth when he coughs, so cute!

6.  Crossed Feet
Huddy loves to cross his feet in his high chair, at his table, while reading, etc.

I LOVE the 2 year old stage but mainly I love my boy!  Thank you Jesus for the blessing of Hudson Henry Haak, we truly cherish every moment we get with him!!!

Dirt Pile Fun

With our few days of sunshine, Hudson wakes up and says "outside."  Two of my neighbors have kiddos a year older than Hudson and they spent all summer in the dirt pile; I can tell this is where we'll be all summer too.  There is something about a dirt pile, a bucket, and a shovel that makes a toddler smile:).

 Where's all the kids mommy?

 "Airplane up in the sky!"

The kids: Addi, Emerson, Ella, & Steven

And then there's Hudson...

The kids

Hudson finally joins in with the kids

But then he decides to go solo again

Until he found Emerson!

I can't wait for more summer block parties.  We have some pretty cool neighbors and friends:).
