Bickel Fun

Earlier this year, my dear friend Heather's dad died.  Heather and are teaching friends from Whitworth.  She worked up at Mt. Spokane during college and we would ski together during the week and weekends.  My favorite time is when her mom and dad came up for spring skiing.  It was a Hawaiian days at the mountain and the sun was out.  Burgers were grilled on the patio.  Heather and I skied together and our dads skied together.  Growing up, both Heather & I, skied religiously on the weekends with our dads.  Do you know how much bonding takes place on the ski life?  LOTS!  She is as close to her dad as I am to mine, which is REALLY close.  I'm a daddy's girl and love every minute of it:)!!!  So when she lost her dad, my heart just broke.  So I flew down to Oregon to help Heather concur Meadows, where she skied with her dad since childhood.

The night I flew in, we headed to down town Portland for some 80's dancing.  What fun we had.  I think 80's dancing is my favorite b/c of the outfits, music, moves, and people.  I had never seen half the videos b/c I'm an early 80's child, so I was reliving them.  We went to the Crystal Ball and I truly recommend it!

The next day we woke up early, after sleeping only 3 hours (seriously, 80's dancing is a blast!!!).  We packed our gear and headed out.  I naturally burry my feelings so I kept Bick distracted by chatting, chatting, chatting.  She had some awesome new tele skis that were fun to try out.  I was pretty tired from our previous late night, or should I say morning, so our skiing wasn't as intense in college but still fun!  The snow was great and we had so much catching up to do.

This is Bick in I where she would meet her dad for lunch

Then we hit the bar for a celebration beer, as our fathers would do:).

Later that night, we went out in Bick's town of McMinnville.  It was fun but again, we stayed out pretty late which made me miss my flight the next day.  Long story short I only had to spend 8 hours in the airport in P-town but I made it home to my boys!  But I had to fly on this...
I
'm so thankful I was able to visit Bick and catch up on some lost time.  Take the time today to appreciate your loved ones, you never know when they could be gone!
