San Diego is one of my favorite places in the world! Dad took me, just me, on trip there when I was in high school. We stayed at this fabulous Marriott in the bay and it was a high light. When dad asked if we should go to San Diego I said "YES!" very excited. I wanted to stay at the same hotel we stayed at before, and we did:).
We picked up Joe at work around 1pm and headed in the car. Uncle Joe and Huddy cruising around the lobby in San Diego.
We checked in and took a siesta. Then it was off to dinner at some Mexican village area. Dad always takes us there when we're in San Diego. He likes it because of the Maranche Band that plays in the center villa and then there are restaurants and shops. Its really fun.
All I wanted was one picture...
As the restaurant wait grew to a close, Huddy grew more and more tired. Again, more entertainment was needed.
One shop had lots of kids toys. Huddy found a Thomas the Train table, toy set. He loved playing with that and when our dinner buzzer went off, we went to dinner and it was quite the scene. He was just so tired and he just wanted his Thomas.
Then it was dinner time, or should I say drink time? Ha. It was easier to share one but it sure was funny to see my dad's eyes at the size of this HUGE margarita. Gotta love those drinks and dinner!
The next morning it was time for the zoo! I LOVE the zoo! I'm such a little kid but I just get so excited to see all the animals. This time we went, we saw more animals out and about than before. I think I've been to this zoo 3 times. My favorite this time was the panda! We started off on the bus tour. Our tour guide is a teacher so I loved all the tid bits she shared with us.
Last time I went, the polar bears were my favorite. It was a hot day and they were playing with these red balls. They would jump off the edge into the water chasing the ball and we could see them under water. To watch them swim with their big paws was so interesting. I loved it. Dad and I must have stayed there a good 45minutes to an hour watching them. So fun!
This is a mamma giraffe who's baby is only 6 weeks old. The baby giraffe was born at a height of 6'2". Giraffe's do a drop birth and they miraculously land on their feet. Isn't God's creation amazing?!
Brother/Sister Love
My boys!
The train we took around the zoo. It was so fun to zip around the zoo and get some inside information.
Koala's
I thought this picture was hilarious! They won't let you have lids/straws on your coffees b/c the animals can get them. This is my mom's second coffee of the morning and its her "change for conservation" by having no lid. This is a big sacrifice and risk (of spilling) in our family!
Huddy's view
We finally got smart and just lifted Huddy in his stroller up so he could see the animals.
His new favorite game is taking of his shoes....
The map master
When I come to LA, I always want to go to Sea World. Now understanding the traffic, directions, and locations of all these fun places, Sea World is the first to go. It's hard to get to with traffic. Luckily, the zoo also has a Sea Lion show. It started off with some birds flying over, a "talking" dog, and the sea lion. A cute little boy around 8 got to go on stage and feed him. He was so shy it was adorable:).
As you can see, Huddy wasn't the best sitter in this. Luckily we had Papa!
Then it was off to hit the few animals we missed. For the zebra's, it was mating season:).
Huddy had the best view at the Hippo area, straight under water! There was a mamma with her head peaked up out of the water and a baby under water who would rise every so often to get a breath of air.
Huddy always needs a hug!
Typical faces of Joe & Jared
Then it was off to see the panda. This was my favorite exhibit this year because we actually saw the panda eating and moving. Normally they aren't very active but this panda was stripping the bamboo and chomping on it feet from us. So cool!
My souvenir
Then he walked away. I felt bad for the people waiting behind us b/c the panda went to a corner of his exhibit out of sight. We rode the sky tram too! I didn't know if I would want to do this with Huddy but he seemed to like it!
From another high point of the zoo, we saw the other panda. I zoomed in the best I could to capture what he was doing. It was so exciting to see both pandas and both of them moving!!!
The gorilla's were my second favorite! They were hilarious and in such a playful mood. One was wearing some necklace and prancing around while the big mamma kept shoving her baby down and grunting. The noises and movements they make are so fun to observe.
Notice the monkey on his back?
I had to see the giraffe's another time. It was so neat to see a baby. That doesn't happen very often and boy were they cute!
A happy giraffe family!
The rhino's were so unique up close. Their skin almost looks like sections of armor and you know they are extremely thick! I had never noticed that before.
The zoo was a blast. I thought Huddy would fall asleep in his stroller but no such luck. He was too excited and stimulated. We headed home around 4 and took an evening nap. Then we went out for another dinner which was short lived but saved by Uncle Joe's IPhone and Thomas the Train. Thank goodness for technology!
The next morning it was time to head to Anaheim, which means Disneyland! We started off with breakfast and look at my boy's hand, it just cracks me up!
Uncle Joe did not want to wake up...
So while we were waiting for him, Jared decided to mess around with his hair.
The pick
The fro
Eventually Uncle Joe woke up and had some fun with us!
Then we drove by the Hotel Cornado. This is a San Diego historic building where only the elite stay. Its on the gorgeous island. We ate breakfast near by and I wanted to walk around it but....
My boy told me otherwise:).
SO it was nap time travels in our car.
