3 Years Old

Our blessing is now 3 years old!  Hudson Henry Haak is the best gift God could have given Jared and I.  We are so lucky to have spent the last 3 years cherishing our little boy.  He is the delight, giggles, and love in our lives.  Here are some fun facts about the boy:

He loves to snuggle and rock with his Mamma all the time!  Often times lately he will come up to me and say "Mommy will you hold me?" or "Can you just hold me?" or "Mommy I need more snuggles!" He even shares his rocks and snuggles with his animals.

He still loves letters.  Anything to do with letters and he's a happy camper.  He can copy words, spells letters with excitement when he sees them, and totes his letters around for fun.  My favorite is when he says "Look mommy!  I found an M for you!"  My favorite:).  He will find a D for Daddy, G for Gigi, N for Nana, P for Pops, J for Uncle Joe, and another G for his Grandpa & Grandma.  One of his new favorite show is Word World, where the letters form words.

He continues to learn at Miss Lexies.  How to count and how to write!

He is my budding artist who loves to do art!  He loves to paint, work with play dough, draw on his doodle mat (thank you Aunt Tiff & Uncle Daryl), or make paper chains for the count down of school/Disneyland.  One of his favorite forms of art is sticker pages where we literally pile stickers on paper, great entertainment!

We continued to do swim lessons with our boy, who is still very hesitant of water.  Since his mamma dunked him at the age of 1 (per the instructors request) he hasn't trusted me in the water:(.  Needless to say, Daddy is here!  Daddy is now our swim lesson man!  He does such a good job with Hudson and he has really grown more comfortable in water.  Although, the first swim lesson each time is the death grip...the entire lesson but he looks like this towards the end:

Helping is Hudson's middle name!  He is always offering to do laundry, organize, or grab something for mommy!  He is especially helpful in the kitchen!  We made Uncle Daryl and Uncle Jordan some special Star Wars cookies for their birthdays.

His vocabulary never ceases to amaze me.  He likes to speak in complete sentences.  Below with Gigi he is explaining that the fish are the same species (which he learned from Pops) but still remembers each time we visit.

Play time is his favorite!  He likes ring-around-the-rosie with Daddy!

And locking Daddy out of the room.

Cars still seem to be his favorite.  He loves to line them up, drive them over the furniture, or play on his parking garage.  There is no shortage of entertainment for this lil guy.

He likes to "rough up" daddy, these are Huddy's words.  I believe he learned this from Lexie's husband at school.  Here he is telling daddy "Daddy, I'm gonna rough you up!"  Then they chest bump and he tries to knock him over.  Very entertaining!  It eventually turned into "I'm gonna beat you up" which Jared politely informed him we don't do that:).

He is all about birthdays right now.  Here he is recreating his own with daddy, cookies and all!

Don't forget our worker man.

Or our chill guy

He continues to love puzzles and putting them together.

Or playing basketball

But his favorite lately is the wheelbarrow!

After a long hard day, it's bath time.

We are so exciting to be adding to the family, but Hudson is the most!  He loves the idea of being a big brother and only wanted a sister, and got his wish.  He even got some baby practice with his cousin Raylee.  He kept asking to hold her and was so gentle.  He is gonna be one great big brother.

Mannerisms
Hudson loves his hands in his pockets of sweatshirts or pants
He loves to wear ONLY hooded sweatshirts, keeping the hood on at all times
He is still as flexible as ever, laying/sleeping completely bent in half
He is still afraid of new things, like the four wheeler.  We eventually got him on it with Pops but it took lots of bribery and a few tears.
He still will not get on his Harley Power Wheels
New things like slippers and Mickey Mouse ears are not welcomed but take lots of time to eventually get him to wear or do something.

We are still working on peddling our trike...
Every once in a while he will try, but mostly he still scoots, despite my attempts.

But we love to hear the Happy Birthday song!

His imagination has really come about lately.  Here he is saying "To infinity and beyond!".

We've finally started flossing along with our brushing.  He likes his "routine".

Most of all, my boy is a sweetheart!  He picks me flowers:).  Ahh!
One specific day after church, I was getting him out of the carseat and he looked at me and said "Mommy you're so beautiful and kind."  Melt my heart!

Funny Sayings
"Whoopsdaisy" if something drops or falls
"Okie dokie aritchokie"
"Nope, I'm not"
"Stop saying that"
As I start counting, he says "don't say that!" or "you don't say that"
He will grab my finger and put them down so he doesn't have a time out
"I told you not to say that"
Every sentence starts with "umm uh..."
"Mommy can I tell you something?"
"Mommy be nice to daddy."  I have no idea what he's talking about :).
As he drinks milk he says "I'm gonna spill some on my tongue"

We hit a stage of time outs where he was getting them quite often.  I really feel this is the age and in relation to mommy and daddy working so much.  Hudson just wasn't listening like the old days.  One night we took a book away before bed time and you would have thought we killed something by the tears.  When he would get ready for bed or out the door in the mornings I would ask him to use the potty. I would say, "Hudson, you can go potty or have a time out.  What's your choice?"  90% of the time he chose the potty but it became a battle...every...morning. The next night we were getting ready for bed and I started counting.  After I said 2, he goes in the bathroom and as he shuts the door he says "Guys, relax!"  Wow!

Hudson has become the negotiator.  If I tell him 2 more minutes he says "How about 5?"  then I tell him how about 0 more minutes.  He quickly responds with "2 more minutes.  Then another day he asked for 10 minutes to play and I said "sure."  He quickly comes back to me and says "How about 11?"

He thanked me over and over for his birthday party.  "Mamma, thanks for makin' my party."  He truly has such a sweet heart.  He kept asking where all his "friends" where, meaning his grandparents and great grandparents.  He wanted to know where they had gone and when he could see them again.

Some days he is obedient and responds with "ok" or "sorry mamma" if he knows he didn't listen right away the first time.

When he chokes, which he often does, I have this eagle eye stare at him, scared to death every time.  He looks at me and says three times (every time) "i'm alright I'm alright I'm alright."  I guess I can over react a bit at times...

He still asks to take naps or go to bed, love this!

His current stats are:
Weight: 41.3 lbs     98%
Height: 41.5 in     99%

His head is the same:).  I guess they stop measuring after 2 years old but we're good, although I tried to get a 3T shirt on him today and it was a no go:(.

All in all, 99% of our days, our boy looks like this...

All smiles!  He is the joy in our lives.
Thank you Jesus for this gift of life!
