Toddlerhood

I know I've said this before but I LOVE LOVE LOVE toddlerhood.  Hudson is so fun, playful, adventurous, he loves arts and crafts, running, riding cars, reading books, playing with Thomas and learning something new every day.  Toddlerhood also has some disadvantages like tantrums:

That's right, my boy has hit the tantrum stage.  The slightest things upset him from taking off his shoes to washing his hands.  Room time now upsets him and when he can't do what he wants he hides in the corner.  He usually sticks his tooshy out but I missed it.  What a nut, as if that will get your way!  They first started in February and proceeded through March.  At first I thought it was b/c he was so sick and I think this is where they started but they have continued and seem to be saved up for Mommy and Daddy most the time while he remains delightful at school and with his Nana & Papa.

We have also been fighting the food battle.  Hudson doesn't like meat, chicken, or "different" things like soup, etc.  He really is hard to feed.  He likes mac n cheese, pizza, chicken nuggets, kid stuff but that isn't how adults eat and I don't want to cater to his likes, he needs to eat what the family eats.  I don't think spaghetti is asking too much!  So we have been bribing him, yes bribing him, with frozen blueberries.  He gets them for eating dinner and his vegetables (a whole different issue).

"blueberries, mmmm!"

As of the last 3 nights, Hudson has gone to bed in tears, pretty much screaming for his temperament, without dinner because he refuses to eat what we put on his plate.  Even when he had some chicken nuggets, he didn't get blueberries b/c he didn't eat vegetables.  Oh geez, its been some rough nights with a hysterical toddler.  My friend's son stopped eating for almost two weeks just as a power play...this might just be Hudson's power play too.  The lessons in Toddlerhood continue:).  However despite the tantrums, I'm one proud mamma and I love every minute with my boy.  Thank you Jesus for the blessings you have given us!  I tell Hudson every day he's the best gift God gave me, and he is:).

  1. Isn't it funny how both our boys used to eat so well and as they get older they get more picky? Somedays we are convinced Emery is a vegetarian. We don't really believe in making him separate food either so if he won't eat what's on his plate, he doesn't eat. It's not like he is starving to death :) Usually he at least eats his fruit and veggies and that's good enough for me.

  2. Sorry he is in the tantrum phase. Not fun. But at least it is just a phase and will go away eventually. I just feels like it lasts forever while you are in it. :)

My girls are super picky eaters too! And we have tried SOO hard to get them not to be. Seyler is a vegetarian. Refuses to eat any kind of meat except tuna, and she will only eat that occasionally. It's so frustrating! Especially since they are both on the scrawny side. It is a constant battle to get them to eat their dinner. I hope this is just a phase too!
