Hudson is 7

Happy 7th Birthday Sweet Boy!
It seems 7 years ago we were waiting with anticipation if you were a boy or a girl!

First Grade Picture-LOVE

Three years ago you were welcoming Hannah to the family

And now Hope.  You love babies, especially your sisters!

You make friends wherever you go:).

7 has brought a love of feathers and bird knowledge.

You're quite the fisherman.

You had tremendous growth in swim lessons last year.

Always wanting to feed baby sister!

Or read to her:).

You still take the occasional nap but usually ropes are involved:).

First Day of school pic

We have continued with Awana and Mr. Hopson is your leader (which I couldn't be more happy about).  Way to seal God's word in your heart buddy!

We have also continued karate.  Bow staff, chux, you enjoy it:).

The 7 year old sillies have happened...

You learned to ride your bike this fall!

Selling Books!

Halloween 2016

PS I was so excited to attend your first class party and you could have cared less.  Sad mommy.
This fall you also had your first surgery-tubes, tonsils, adenoids and a tongue clip.  You were brave and handled it like a champ.

Although we are wondering if your hearing is any better.  Matter of fact your teacher and I think it's worse!

Sharing your bird knowledge with Grandpa.

Homework has brought a new ease-you can read it!

You earned the Wonder award at school for all your wonderings:).

We still visit the ENT often for check ups with your tubes.

We had a very sick spring.  All of the family was sick one week, two weeks or more.

Twins

You're my Ferdinand the Bull:).

7th Birthday

A lock box to keep all his precious rocks:).

This birthday you wanted a nature party with an emphasis on birds and rocks.  So we did a classic "Foothills Community Center" treasure hunt party.  These were my favorite growing up!

We started off with some bird pictures to color.

Then we added stencils to our adventure bags.

Pops led the treasure hunt with a story.

"One spring day, many years ago, a young Indian brave was given a task.  The Chief of the tribe wanted young Running bear to hide the valuable stones and feathers that were of great importance to the tribe.  He told Running bear to find a spot and mark it with bones.  He told him to smoke the peace pipe there and leave the pipe to remember where the valuables are buried.
The Chief put great trust in Running bear and running bear knew he had a very important job!
so the next morning, running bear took the stones and feathers, put them in a treasure chest and set out to bury it.
Your job is to work together to find the treasure chest and discover its contents.  Are you ready for the challenge?
Bring your compass, bag and journal for our adventure!"

Clue #1   Go outside and find the teeter totter, look around it closely to find the next clue

Under the teeter totter was Clue #2
Go west and find the second fire hydrant, look around for clue #3

Go west and find the second fire hydrant, look around for clue #3

Go north east to the church, find the sign in front of the church steeple and cross.
Look under the rock for clue #4

Go northwest look for baseball backstop.  Find home plate and look for Clue #4

Go south and find orange traffic cones, look around them carefully to find clue #5

Go southwest to Big Pine Tree, look for deer antlers to find clue #6
You are close!!

Go down the draw toward the road and fence, when you reach the fence, go left and follows the fence and look for the ancient Indian hunting spot near the active deer trail.  You will find some bones and an Indian Peace pipe.  Dig under the bones to unearth the treasure!!

Enjoy your discovery!!
Pops is the best!  He created this whole story and hunt for Hudson's birthday.  SO.MUCH.FUN!
One of the kids said "I want this exact birthday party for my birthday!!!!"  They want to hire out Pops now:).

Hannah was tired with all the digging and needed a break:).

Then it was food and present time!

He was pretty excited about the Transformers:).

Happy 7th Birthday!!!!

A rock cake for our geologist!

Uncle DD was in town and joined in for the fun.  Hope loved him:).

Excited top play Transformers.

Family Birthday picture:).

We did a small family celebration with Gigi and Gpa also:).

Books!

A bug gun!  Who knew it could be so fun?!

"Look Pops, I can suck out my boogers!"  Giggles.
Yes you're all boy my dear 7 year old!

A few things I want to remember at this age-
"Think about it you two!"
Hudson was explaining a hand washing scenario with Uncle Joe.  You had an epiphany-it's like taking a bath.  You were so matter of fact Uncle Joe almost thought you were rude but you were so serious and excited.  It made us laugh!

You LOVE rocks, birds, legos, quiet time in your room, riding your bike and currently Transformers.

In Karate you're currently a purple belt.
You finished your book in Awana but we didn't get to the review this year because we were so sick as a family:(.  You love to read a book (or read to me!) and do a Bible story before bed.

You are a scholar which is why you earned the WONDER Award at school.  You love to learn new things.  You are slow and steady to try new things but are getting more adventurous.  I ask you often what you did at recess and sometimes you play soccer (which apparently your team counts on you-you told me this very seriously!) or you look for rocks and feathers:).

You created personal hand shakes for each of us.  Dad's is the most complex!  Hope's is the simplest (although it didn't start that way:)).  We love your thoughtful creativity on how to say good night to all of us individually.

We love your caring, kind, gentle spirit Hudson Henry.  Happy 7th Birthday!
