A Skiing We Will Go

It hasn't been the greatest winter but there was enough snow to shred a few days at ole Mt. Spokane. Hudson has expressed an interest in skiing lately, asking when he could go.  The next sunny day, we'd take him.  Now the lower valley was all covered in a deep fog but not the mountain!  We love those classic inversion days.  See the clouds sitting under the mountains?

Pops and I headed up for a few turns and Nana brought Hudson later, who apparently kept asking when it was time to ski!.  The parking lot was full and Pops had to fight off a few guys to keep Nana's spot but it all worked out:). 

Pops wanted to rent Hudson a real pair of skis.  So here we are waiting to get sized.

Then it was go time.  Because of Hudson's size, he isn't the tiniest which made it harder.  He's so tall they gave him bigger skis.  Pops asked about shorter ones but they assured us he would be fine (he needed shorter ones).  Lifting and pulling a 55 pound kid is hard work!

After a few rounds of being pulled by the ski pole, he needed a break.  It was warm, hence no coat, and he was a bit frustrated.  Bless his heart, he kept trying!

So Pops tried a new tactic!

After 2 runs this way, he was done.  Well I can't say it was the best of times or the worst of times.  

He just wanted a rest, after all he is 4:).

He still gives skiing two thumbs up!

I think next time we will get shorter skis and we are going to put him in a ski school during Christmas break.  Pops wanted to this Christmas but we didn't think he was ready.  I think he's ready now but we're gonna hand it over to the professionals:).  I'm thankful he shows an interest in skiing.  Some of my best moments with my family have been skiing and when you're up that high, it's hard not to praise God for all His magnificent creations!

We ended the evening with a classic thumb trick.  Pops can take his thumb off:).
